To commemorate the business tycoon's 60th birthday, which falls on June 24, one of the wealthiest people in Asia, Gautam Adani, and his family have pledged a donation of Rs 60,000 crore to a number of charitable organisations. The Adani Group announced in a statement that the Adani Foundation will manage this corpus.

Additionally, this year marks the centennial anniversary of the birth of Shantilal Adani, the father of Gautam Adani.

The Indian tycoon, who turns 60 tomorrow, joins the ranks of world billionaires who have donated significant amounts of their fortune to philanthropy, like Warren Buffett and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook. According to Forbes' Real Time Billionaires list, Adani has a net worth of over $95 billion.

Adani also announced the donation for charitable causes on Twitter. The billionaire posted: "On our father's 100th birthday and my 60th birthday, Adani Family is pleased to give Rs 60,000 cr in charity for healthcare, education, and skill-development across India.

The donation will concentrate on initiatives that support a "Atmanirbhar Bharat," including healthcare, education, and skill development, it was said. "The Adani Foundation has a wealth of expertise engaging with local communities on integrated development initiatives in each of these fields. The competency and competitiveness of our future workforce can be greatly improved by addressing these issues."

The family decided to donate Rs. 60,000 crore to charitable initiatives related to healthcare, education, and skill development, especially in rural areas of our country, because this year also happens to be the year of my 60th birthday and it is the 100th anniversary of the birth of my inspirational father, according to Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group.
