BCCI president Ganguly to attend India vs Ireland T20Is in Dublin

The Indian team will be led by Hardik Pandya, with VVS Laxman as coach in Rahul Dravid's absence.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly will be present at The Village, Malahide in Dublin to watch Hardik Pandya and his team compete in the two-match T20I series against Ireland, which begins on Sunday.

Ganguly told Sportstar on Thursday that the development has occurred.

Earlier, the BCCI Board president and a few other office holders were anticipated at the July 1 Test match between India and England at Edgbaston. However, the most recent schedule indicates that Ganguly will fly to Ireland on Saturday and then travel to England after the T20I series.

With the regular team busy with preparations for the Test against England, India has fielded a new white-ball team for the T20Is against Ireland under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. In the absence of Rahul Dravid, the National Cricket Academy chief VVS Laxman will coach the team for the Ireland tour.

The team flew for Ireland early on Thursday morning after taking a brief holiday at home, and it is anticipated that they will train in Dublin before their opening match on Sunday.

It will be difficult for the white-ball team to get in condition before travelling to England for a full-fledged T20I series as they will be on their first national tour since 2018. The two-match series will be a significant opportunity for Hardik to lead the Indian squad after having success with the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, even though this is a chance for the young players to demonstrate their mettle.

Dinesh Karthik will have the opportunity to solidify his position before the T20 World Cup during the tour of Ireland. Karthik played the home series against South Africa following a string of reliable IPL performances, and the seasoned veteran will be eager to maintain the trend in the cold surroundings of Ireland.

The first game will take place on Sunday, and the final will be held the following Tuesday.
