After the vote-counting was completed on Thursday, Droupadi Murmu, the NDA's presidential candidate, was formally sworn in as the nation's 15th president (July 21, 2022). According to results released by PC Mody, the Returning Officer for the 2022 presidential election and Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha, Murmu received 2,824 votes, totaling 6,76,803, while Yashwant Sinha received 1,877 votes, totaling 3,80,177. Droupadi Murmu, a former governor of Jharkhand and candidate for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), was chosen as India's fifteenth president. She is the first tribal woman to hold the office and the country's youngest president. Despite having already passed the halfway point after the third round of counting, she was proclaimed elected on Thursday after four rounds of counting. Ms. Murmu, a former governor of Jharkhand, is of the Santhal tribe and was raised in the Mayurbhanj district.
