Presidential Elections 2022 India!!

 

The 16th presidential election to take place in India will take place in 2022. Ram Nath Kovind is currently the president of India. The President of India must hold office for a term of five years, according to Article 56(1) of the Indian Constitution. As a result of President Ram Nath Kovind's tenure coming to an end, an electoral poll to replace the position is set to be held on July 18, 2022, and the results will be tallied on July 21, 2022. On June 21, 2022, Yashwant Sinha of the AITC was overwhelmingly selected as the joint presidential candidate of the UPA and other opposition parties.The NDA selected Draupadi Murmu as its presidential candidate on the same day.

The Opposition’s consensus candidate tells The Indian Express that the election for Rashtrapati Bhavan is an ideological battle. ‘It is not our identity that matters.’

UPA Presidential Candidate:

Between 1998 to 2004, Yashwant Sinha was the minister of finance and external affairs in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee administrations. He has been one of the most vocal opponents of the Narendra Modi-led administration ever since he left the party in 2018.

In the presidential election scheduled for July 18, in which Sinha will face Droupadi Murmu of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Sinha became the consensus choice of the opposition on Tuesday. In an interview with The Indian Express, Sinha discusses Murmu's candidacy, why it is premature to declare that he lacks the electoral votes to win, and how the presidential election is an ideological struggle. 

BJP led NDA Presidential Candidate:                              

Draupadi Murmu has been named as a candidate for the 2019 Indian presidential elections by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA on Tuesday (June 21). The party's tribal leader from the eastern Indian state of Odisha is named Murmu.

Murmu was inaugurated as Jharkhand's first female governor in 2015. Murmu began her profession as a teacher before transitioning into politics in Odisha in 1997. Since the state's founding in 2000, she is the first governor to serve the full five years.The former governor of Jharkhand has dedicated her life to helping society, according to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who expressed confidence that she will make a "wonderful President" after the announcement.


Premier Modi tweeted, "Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji has dedicated her life to helping the underprivileged, oppressed, and marginalised members of society. She has extensive managerial expertise and a distinguished record as governor. She would be a fantastic President of our country, I'm sure of it."

Indian Presidential Election 2022 on July 18, NDA very close to halfway mark



The YSR Congress and Biju Janata Dal are in the limelight as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is barely shy of the halfway point after the Poll Commission announced the presidential election on Thursday.


The deadline for candidates to submit their paperwork is June 29. Voting and counting are set for July 18 and 21, respectively.


Support from the YSRCP or BJD would help the NDA's nominee in the contest for the nation's highest post, however PM Modi will ultimately decide who will run for president.
